A prescription IS NOT required or needed to purchase this item! 1, 2, 6 or 12pk of Ultra Fine Filters made by Sunset Healthcare to properly fit and function with all applicable Philips Respironics brands.
The filters are made of white fibers and are 1 3/4" inches long and 7/8" inches wide. The filters are designed to add additional filtration while using your CPAP or Bi-PAP machine. Most commonly used in homes with high pollen or dust particles as well as homes with pets.
If neither one pertains to you, you can still benefit from the use of an Ultra Fine Filter as it will still add filtration of room air prior to you breathing it through the machine. The filters are disposable and are not meant for cleaning!
If you happen to get the filter wet, dispose of it and use a new filter. These filters are meant to be replaced every 1-2 months depending on the need for replacement. You will typically see the filter change from white to slightly grey or even black.
It is extremely important to change this filter and should be considered as important as your Home Furnace filter! Lack of cleaning of the pollen filter and switching of an Ultra Fine Filter could cause your CPAP or Bi-PAP machine to over work and eventually fail! Image below illustrates the order in which the filters should be placed into your machine.
The Ultra Fine always goes in first with the Tab up and then the pollen filter follows.These filters are designed with the customer in mind. Each filter has a tab so you can easily remove the filter from the back of the machine.

i tell this story often to people who ask about my Res med 10.....and the 9 i had before.....I say like anything else its a process to understand the lifestryle change of choosing you future health or just keep suffering.,....Its about the support you can get from someone....I must have talked to Alex 3 or 4 times over a month when he coached me up and i stayed in touch for 10 years....i have bought two such machines.....I got a call from someone who i offered my phone number and said ....you need one but you also will need support....And the Cpap clinic provided me the support until i knew that my Res med 9 and 10 were my best friend.....for 10 years or more i have breathed easier ...my nasal polyps are gone....they went when i used the heated hose.....i actually sleep 7 or 8 hours not two or 3.....Alex i am indebted too you Sir.....
