Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) therapy is the well known method to treat obstructive sleep apnea. The patients wear a mask that is attached to a pump in the CPAP machine. This machine forces air into nasal passages at adequately high pressure to overcome any obstruction in the airway. The airway pressure delivered into the upper airway is continuous while breathing in and breathing out.
