CPAP Fails

I keep on taking my CPAP mask at night without knowing it.

For new users of CPAP, it is normal to wake up and find that you’ve removed the mask in your sleep. If you move a lot in your sleep and bump your mask off, this will aggravate your deep slumber.

However, there are some tricks to making this situation work for you rather than against you.

Start here:

  1. You may find that a full face mask will stay on your face better. Seek out a good CPAP mask and accessories supplier or an online company who might lend you trial masks. Be ready for a monetary deposit when trying different masks.
  2. You may be unconsciously removing the mask because your sinuses are congested. If so, ensuring a good mask fit and adjusting settings heated humidifier to your CPAP machine may help. A chin strap also may help you to keep the device on your face.
  3. Your bedding can be your best friend if you work with pillows that won’t knock your mask off.
  4. If you use a skin friendly sealant. gel or cloth liners or mask sealant accessory, and combine all of the above steps together, great sleep could happen as soon as tonight.

And finally, explore even more options for optimum CPAP use and sleep therapy to avoid common pitfalls altogether by going here. This is part seven of a series about CPAP fails.
